What I am missing out

There are plenty of things I miss out due to living in a city like Perth because it is not a city that promises variety. It is good in its way, in that it promotes goods that are made in Australia. However, having lived in Singapore & America in the past, I am still trying to adjust to not having as many choices. There are probably few countries in the world that can match the range and variety of goods sold in Singapore, where there is a good blend of East & West cultures. Visit a supermarket in Singapore and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Last month, a couple of friends & I went to "Coldstorage" to look for some snacks to bring back to Nat's house for our drinking session. I was once again reminded of the choices available - local snacks, imported snacks from all parts of the world (US, Australia, UK, Japan, Taiwan, China, Malaysia etc.) As I am standing from a consumer's viewpoint, I see that as a huge advantage in lifestyle. But for someone who cares about a nation's identity, he/she would probably think that the choices offered to consumers in Singapore result in the loss of local identity & flavor. Other than the fact that I have always considered Singapore as my home, this would be another factor that drives me towards moving back. As I type, here I am sipping on my last bottle of Starbucks Frappucino, which is not available here as Starbucks hadn't franchised in Perth.
